An international relocation
A secondary event that layers jurisdictions onto an existing plan. The conceptual structure of continuity travels; the legal routes do not — they must not be read across borders without jurisdiction-specific advice.

What changes
Succession, capacity law and tax can differ in every relevant jurisdiction. A UK will may not be effective abroad, and a foreign will may not be effective for UK assets — the household needs its cross-border position made explicit.
Records to locate
- A clear inventory of which assets sit in which jurisdiction
- Existing wills — UK and any foreign — and how they interact
- Tax residence and domicile position, and the advisers in each jurisdiction
Authority to prove
- Whether UK authority instruments (LPA, executor appointment) are recognised where you're moving
Formal requirements
