How to access the records
someone prepared for you.

If you have been named as a trusted person and something has happened, here is a calm explanation of what you will find, how access works, and where to go if anything is missing.

How it works

§IIThree steps — from notification to access.

I

An email arrives

When you were named, Valoren was told your email address. When something has happened — a death or a serious incapacitation — the person who runs the estate will have sent a notification, or you may already have one from Valoren. That email contains a secure link.

II

You click the link and confirm who you are

The link takes you to envoy.valoren.uk. You will be asked to confirm your email address and, if set, a short confirmation question that the person chose when they named you. This is not a password — it is a brief, person-specific confirmation to make sure access goes to the right person.

III

Access opens to exactly what was prepared

Once confirmed, you will see the records the person decided to share with you — no more, no less. These may include: where key documents are kept, account details and access routes, medical wishes, funeral preferences, and an instruction note to you specifically. The access is logged, scoped, and time-stamped.

What may be there

§IIIThe records depend on what the person prepared.

Envoy shows you the records the person chose to share with you specifically. These may include some or all of the following.

Location of originals
Where the will, LPA, and identity documents are physically kept.
Account and access routes
Which accounts exist, which bank, which branch, and how digital access works.
Trusted contacts
The solicitor, the GP, the accountant — the people who need to know and how to reach them.
Funeral wishes
If the person set these down — preferences, instructions, names.
Medical summary
A brief for a hospital or care team, if the principal prepared one.
A personal note to you
Many principals write a letter to the people they have named. Yours may be here.

Not everything above will be present for every person. Envoy shows only what was prepared. If something you expected is not there, it was likely not set up before this moment.

Questions

§IVCommon questions about access.

Yes. The link does not expire immediately.

There is no time pressure to access right now. If you need a few hours or a day first, that is completely fine.

The records are waiting when you are ready.
Check your spam or junk folder first — these emails sometimes land there.

If you cannot find it, contact Valoren through the help page and include the name of the person who named you. The team can verify your identity and reissue the link.
You will only see what the person chose to share with you specifically.

They made that decision when they prepared their record. Envoy does not expose medical records, financial balances, or private correspondence beyond what the principal deliberately included.
Being named as a trusted person and being an executor can overlap.

Envoy gives you the records view the principal prepared — locations, access routes, wishes. Probate administration (forms, HMRC, the Probate Registry) is separate work, covered in the Executor's Companion.
No. Access to Envoy — the trusted person view — is free for the person named.

The cost, if any, was part of the principal's Valoren membership.
When you are ready

The records are at envoy.valoren.uk.

Your link takes you directly there. If you have lost it, contact us and we will verify and reissue.
