Estate planning · Understand your position before anyone else does

A structured first-pass view of where your estate stands.

The Estate Readiness Audit is for anyone who wants to understand the state of their own estate or is helping a parent or spouse understand theirs — before walking into a conversation with a solicitor, accountant, or Signum specialist.

It produces a structured first-pass picture: assets, liabilities, documents, gaps, and the questions to take into any professional review.

Prepared personally by a dedicated Signum specialist and delivered within one business daynot an instant download.

Most estates have gaps no one has mapped yet.

A missing LPA. A pension nomination that has not been reviewed since a previous marriage. A will that no longer reflects the family structure. A property held in the wrong way for the estate's IHT position. Business interests with no succession plan.

These gaps do not become visible until a professional asks — and by then, the conversation is longer and more expensive.

The audit produces the first-pass picture so you arrive at that conversation already knowing where things stand.

"A structured first-pass view of the estate: assets, liabilities, documents, gaps, and the questions to take into any solicitor, accountant, or Signum review."
Inside the audit

What the audit covers.

8 areas
Estate value position
Value band, IHT exposure status — whether inheritance tax is relevant and at what level.
Document architecture
What is in place (will, LPA, trust, letter of wishes, funeral wishes) — what is missing and the priority gaps.
Property position
Ownership structure and what it means for how assets pass and who can act on them.
Pension status
DC pension nomination risk — including the April 2027 IHT flag where relevant to your situation.
Business interests
Whether there are business assets that need attention and what the right approach is.
Family structure
Who inherits under your current documents — and whether the current arrangement reflects your intentions.
Named priority gaps
What to address first, in what order — a sequenced action list, not a general checklist.
Questions for the next conversation
The specific questions to take into a solicitor, accountant, or Signum review — so you arrive prepared.

The architecture

The 33 records the audit reads against.

33 records · four series

Every household needs these for an executor or attorney to act. The audit reads your answers against all of them and names what is confirmed, what is indicated, and what is missing.

The alternative, priced

Why £79?

ProfessionalTypical feeNote
Solicitor or adviser working it through with you£200–450/hrPlus VAT — several hours to cover the same ground, before any written output

A structured first-pass view of your estate — value position, documents, gaps, and priority order — prepared personally within one business day.

£79

Nothing you start with is wasted. The £79 counts in full toward anything more expensive for 30 days — £79 off the £179 Executor’s First Hour, or off the Household Continuity Dossier’s first year. Use the same email at checkout and it applies automatically.

Start free if you would rather. The Estate Health Check puts your household in a band in a couple of minutes, and the Records Roadmap shows what a complete file holds — both free, no account. If that answers your question, stop there.

What £79 adds is the reading: deeper than the free Roadmap, lighter than a subscription — your position, your gaps, and the order to fix them in, written for this estate.

Who this is for

Who this audit is for.

Before a professional appointment

Anyone approaching a solicitor, financial adviser, or Signum consultation who wants to arrive with a structured picture. Rather than a folder of fragments.

A parent's estate, from the outside

An adult child helping a parent understand where things stand. What documents are in place, what the gaps are, and what to address first.

A major life event has changed things

Someone who has recently married, divorced, received an inheritance, or had children. Wants to understand how their estate position has shifted.

FAQ

Questions before you commission it.

Within one business day of your answers reaching us, and usually faster. A person prepares it from what you told us and reads it through before it is sent, so it is not an instant download. If something in your answers needs clarifying, you may hear from us by email first.
Nothing. The intake asks for bands and yes-or-no answers: your estate's rough value range, how the family is structured, how property is held, what pension and business interests exist, and which documents are already in place. No documents are uploaded and no account numbers are asked for. It takes about fifteen minutes.
Yes. The intake asks whose estate it is — your own, a parent's, a partner's — and their name. Answer the questions about their estate rather than your own; the audit is then addressed to them on the cover and throughout, and names you as the person who asked for it, so the reading, the gaps and the family conversation are written for the person whose estate it is, with you holding the pen.
Yes. The intake asks which part of the UK is home, and the audit is written for it: England and Wales (Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate), Scotland (continuing and welfare powers of attorney registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (Scotland), confirmation through the sheriff court) or Northern Ireland (an Enduring Power of Attorney, a grant from the Probate Office in Belfast). Inheritance tax is UK-wide and reads the same in all three.
A 14-day refund window applies to the audit. Because it is prepared for you personally, ask before the work begins where you can; once it has been sent, write to hello@valoren.uk within 14 days and a person will deal with it.
Yes, in full. For 30 days after purchase the £79 comes off anything more expensive — the Executor's First Hour at £179, or the first year of the Household Continuity Dossier. Use the same email address at checkout and the credit applies automatically.
Every fee, threshold and time window printed in the audit carries the date it was last checked against its source, and the closing page gathers them in one table. The figures are held in a register that is re-checked on a schedule — the same one that caught the probate fee moving from £300 to £526 — so a change is surfaced rather than missed.
A dedicated specialist prepares it from your answers and reads the finished document before it is sent. The first draft is built from what you told us — your value band shapes the inheritance-tax illustration, your documents shape the gaps and the record map — and the specialist then reads every line against your situation. Nothing is sent unread.

What this becomes inside Valoren

Stored in your records system

The information you've just shared lives in your Valoren records — encrypted, organised, ready when you or your trusted person needs it.

Kept current for you

Tax thresholds change. Pension rules change. Family circumstances change.

Your records system updates the relevant outputs when they do — no need to redo this.

Surfaced when it matters

The right document for the right moment. Day-one of a bereavement. A capacity event. An executor's first hour.

The system already knows what to produce.

Visible to the people who need it

Your trusted person sees what you've chosen to share, when you've chosen to share it.

No password handover. No "where are the documents." A real continuity layer above your will.
